Pumpkin Patch Guide

Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons in Pittsburgh and it's time to start thinking of all things pumpkin! We are so lucky to have so many local farms offering family fun throughout the season. Most farms offer fall festivals of some sort, not just pumpkin picking, so be sure to check each farm’s website (just click the title of each farm and it’ll take you right to their site)

Tickets are required for most locations-check their website for full details- happy picking!

Shenot’s Farm & Market

Shenot’s Farm pumpkin patch is a classic farm experience — take a hayride (only on Saturdays and Sundays) or the walking trails (open every day) and go pick your pumpkin! For those that don’t want to trek to the patch, you can purchase pumpkins in their market area. They also offer other fall decor such as straw bales, corn stalks and decorative gourds.



Hozak Farms

Hozak Farm is located west of Pittsburgh in Clinton, Pa. Enjoy pumpkin picking during the week at Hozak's from 2pm to 6pm. During the weekends enjoy Hozak's Fall Festival which brings all the fun of the pumpkin patch along with face painting and scenic hayrides through the woods. Kids can enjoy pumpkin painting and hayrides as well. Admission to the farm is free.

Their annual Pumpkinland is back! Take a walk to the pumpkin patch (pumpkins are sold separately for 65¢/lb), enjoy the scenic hayride (optional), corn maze, haunted barn, $5 pony rides (children only), petting zoo, corn pit, straw maze, playgrounds, & more. Feel free to pack a lunch or visit the food vendors we have available. There will also be craft vendors located in the Lakeside Venue so be sure to stop in & check them out!




Coolspring Ranch

Fall activities open Friday, September 11th and run through November 1st

Easily accessible off I79, Coolspring Ranch boasts a 12 acre corn maze (we truly got lost one year!), a scenic hayride to a large pumpkin patch, a double mega-slide, and more! Enjoy a seasonal sunflower field, too.

Coolspring Ranch also offers themed nights throughout September, including a special grandparent weekend, a “quiet-on-the-farm” sensory friendly night and a princess/super hero weekend.

Pro Mom Notes : Be sure to pet Miss Tillie, their friendly Scottish Highland cow! Plus the warm homemade donuts and fresh popped kettle corn are worth buying!



Simmons Farm

Fall activities include hayrides, double mega slide, farm combine slide, basket ball corn hopper, flying turtle pen, peddle car drag race, pumpkin corn hole, tire maze, tire lift, rubber duck races, apple rock labyrinth, five acres of pumpkins, hay maze, 4 acre corn maze and maze challenge, 2 acre core maze, 100ft slide and smaller fire truck slide, petting zoo, human hamster wheel, play area, photo opportunities for families, and apple picking (sold separately).

Pro Mom Notes: All activities may be on hills or uneven ground. Get your family photos done at Simmons in early September on the hillside and flower farm- they were stunning.



Irons Mill Farmstead

Explore and discover over 40+ attractions — from corn mazes to an epic slide there’s something for every age. Visit their giant playground, apple blasters, the hay castle, or the beehive (so cool!). There’s also a slew of “old fashioned” yard games available, including tug of war ropes, tetherball, ring toss, obstacle courses, climbing large tractor tires, dodgeball, and more. Take epic photos in their large oversized rocking chair (it’s HUGE) or in their annual pumpkin village. Irons Mill Farmstead offers tractor rides and animal feeding, too. They’ve truly made a “dream backyard” for families.

Pro Mom Tip : Go hungry. Do not pack your usual snacks and instead order from their corn dog stand, their burger bar or their firehouse pizza (made fresh right there!). For the adults, there’s hard cider and for the littles fresh squeezed lemonade. They also have strawberry lemonade soft serve ice cream! We’re giving you permission to totally bribe your kids!



Triple B Farms

Fall activities include singing chicken show, education acres, farm animals, hayrides, corn mazes, giant slides, jumping pillows, farmcade games, rope maze, tire mountain, pumkinland, barnyard, and more!




The Spring House Market

Fall activities include tube slides, hamster wheel (this is a must video moment moms!), big foot race, spider web, giant haybale climb, pumpkin tictactoe, cow hulahoop lasso, kiddie corn maze, large corn maze, pumpkin ring toss, giant corn box, ball mania, potato pelter, bubble wands, giant cornhole, tug-of-war, and so much more! We truly got tired of listing every option for families at this amazing farm, so just go ahead and add it to your family calendar!




Trax Farms

There’s something for everyone from grandparents to grandkids. Enjoy a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick-your-own pumpkin or see if you can find your way through the giant, 3-acre corn maze. Geary Farm

Harvest Happenings : October 10th and 11th from 11am-6pm

Harvest Happenings at Geary Farm is only $5 admission and kids under 10 are free! Come mingle with area vendors, pumpkin paintings, food trucks, bounce houses and live music. Of course you’ll be able to pick your pumpkin from their patch, too!

This farm is over 200 years old and originating in 1818 as a dairy farm. Now Geary Farm is run by the 8th generation of family members and expanded to more family-friendly livestock such as chickens, Nigerian goats, mini horses, pigs, donkeys and even livestock dogs!




Soergel Orchards

You’ve probably been on more than one school field trip to Soergel’s, but don’t sleep on going as a family. There’s so much to do besides picking apples or choosing just the right pumpkin. There’s also flower picking, allergen-friendly trick or treating in October and of course their famous garden center and gift barn. Check out their Soergel Scoops for a sweet treat or head to their bakery counter to take home one of their famous pies.



Renshaw Farms

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October 11am-6pm

Fall activities include hayrides, corn pit, corn maze, bounce pillow, giant rope spider web, animal park, hay bale slides, tunnel crawl, zip lines, giant picture frame for family photos, and much more!

Pro Mom Tip : hit up their Spotted Cow Ice Cream Stand (menu items include: giant popsicles, ice cream cups, root beer floats, warm brownie sundaes, and warm apple crumble sundaes.)




Freedom Farms

Fall Festival is every Saturday and Sunday in October from 11am-5pm (including Columbus Day)

Pick up some goodies at their Freedom Farms Farmers Market including fresh produce, dairy products and even fresh meat cuts. There’s also jarred goods, artisanal items and even wildflowers. Hungry? Head to their “Farm to Fork" Kitchen” — offering both indoor and outdoor seating, the menu includes items straight from their farm right to your (picnic) table! They also have a Grist House Beer Crib for those of us who need to chillax while the kids run amock in the hay bales. Freedom Farms offers events throughout the season — But the Fall Festival is a must — tractor rides, corn maze, hay mountain, animal barn, tire graveyard, and pick-your-own sunflowers. Plus of course lots and lots of pumpkin
